Grapefruitful – Vitamin C Powerhouse Serum
As with all Vitamin C topical products, it may increase skin’s sensitivity to sunlight – which is why it works best as an evening serum – with or without a balm over the top. Directions: Dab a few drops onto your skin and neck – (no need for fancy wipes or sponges – finger pressing perfect). Let it sink in for a little minny. Follow with a quick slick of Pash & Dash Passionflower Face Food. Packaging: Your serum will arrive packaged in a cute little ‘ugg’ boot made from my sheeps fleece & a muslin bag. Please don’t chuck it in your regular ol’ landfill bin. The wool makes great water-saving mulch or will break down quickly in your compost. Cultivation & Harvest: Plenty of people have difficulty growing citrus in the Macedon Ranges.. but once again, thanks to the permaculture hippies who setup here 20 years ago – mine are cleverly positioned in a frost free corridor with maximum sun. They’re fertilized with well rotted compost but not a speck of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Like me, the possums don’t seem to like the taste of grapefruit- which means my trees with are heaving with big, juicy fruit. The grapefruits are washed, peeled and extracted in a vegetable glycerine mix. Then I strain the serum solution and add a fresh batch of peel in to create a double extraction. This is what makes the smell so zesty and the colour so vibrant. If you’re playing at home – aim for only the colourful outer layer of peel – leaving the pithy spongey stuff for whatever else you’re doing with them. I’ve been juicing them to make grapefruit iceblocks – apparently they’re spectacular in summer cocktails or G&T. Aloe Leaf Gel Just a heads up, most Aloe Gel is made from shitty powder aloe powder and water. I use 100% good stuff, the gooey goodness that’s harvested from the leaves of mature aloe plants. I dont grow this myself but source it from organic certified, Australian farms. Preservative Even though this serum is made from natural products, these botanical extracts contain water-based components which can result in product spoilage over time. To keep the serum shelf stable, I use a safe and effective broad-spectrum preservative for use in cosmetic and personal care products. However, some natural changes in colour may occur and I recommend keeping it a dark place and using it within 6 months of purchase. Ingredients List Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Gel, Glycerin, Preservative: Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate
